Business Intelligence Analyst

A newly created  Business Intelligence Analyst position is available data warehouse unit located at our Corporate Headquarters location in Jacksonville, Florida.    

The Business Intelligence Analyst is responsible for eliciting and defining requirements to refine and implement the enterprise business intelligence (BI) strategy and overall data warehouse ecosystem. Works  as a liaison among business operations, technology groups, business partners, vendors, and project management office to understand, analyze, and facilitate business needs, requirements, and impacts of business changes as a result of strategic initiatives, operational changes, compliance requirements, client needs, and technology or operational improvements.

Works on small to large projects ranging in complexity. Identify, analyze, specify and model BI needs and requirements as related to the Data Warehouse. Communicates and facilitates the activities and deliverables associated with business requirements, business processes, options and alternatives, validation and testing of solutions, training and implementation. Also provide ongoing support for existing and new BI solutions.


• Work closely with the technical development team and business SME’s to clearly document source elements and ensure standardized values, formats, business rules/algorithms, meta data requirements, and data element relationships are understandable to the business customers and BI development group.

• Prepare for, conduct, and document requirement  sessions using a variety of techniques (Interviewing, requirements workshops/JAD sessions, reviewing existing documentation, etc…)

• Manage requirements traceability of requirements back to solution scope and objectives, and transforms business requirements to system requirements and testing

• Partner with the technical development teams to document the specifications for mapping and transformation rules all the way from source to target.

• Assess the proposed solution for alignment to business needs, requirements, and impacts to operations, processes, technology, vendors, business partners.

• Perform data extract and analysis using SQL on multiple database platforms

• Assess capability gaps, determine solution options and approach, and define solution scope

• Manage solution scope, changes to requirements, and requirements conflicts

• Verify and validate requirements with project team and stakeholders

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience

• 4+ years related work experience in business and systems analysis, specifically in a Data Warehouse environment

• 4+ experience extracting and analyzing data using SQL

• Experience and advanced understanding of relational and data warehouse DBMS environment. - Star schema, snow-flaking, slowly changing dimensions, aggregate table design and navigation, operational data stores, data marts, etc ..

• Demonstrated experience on large complex projects and eliciting requirements using a variety of techniques, in specifying and modeling requirements and in facilitating business process improvements, in problem solving, creative thinking, conflict management, and consensus building

• Established proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of programs

Preferred Qualifications:

• 3-5 years Property and Casualty Insurance experience

• Experience using multiple SDLC methodologies and best practices, preferably in the development of Data Warehouse  solutions

• Strong application and data modeling skills utilizing industry standard notations such as UML to design solutions for complex problems

• Data Stage and or Cognos is preferred.
